Ormsheim are a Dark Age re-enactment group based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, The UK. We are a regional group of The Vikings, a UK (and international) Dark Age re-enactment society. Our aim is to portray Dark Age life in the form or both Village life, and battle re-enactment.
The group formed in Leeds, but has recruited from the whole of West Yorkshire, and even beyond. Regular training sessions are held in Leeds for members to meet up, discuss upcoming events, make equipment and to train.
Ormsheim and The Vikings provide Living history displays at events, where arts and crafts of the Dark Ages are on show, as well as domestic life, and the rumbles of local politics.
Battle re-enactment is limited to those over 18 and to 16year olds who have a parent or guardian in the society, but with non-combat roles available for elder children. All combatants are trained and tested before being allowed to fight. There are also stringent safety requirements for combatants
